Jalapeno peppers are dark green and typically between 2 and 3 inches in length. These one inch in diameter peppers have a distinctly blunt end and shiny, smooth skin. Sometimes they have what is about the same as “stretch marks,” also called corking that is visible.
Jalapeno peppers are eaten fresh in many cuisines, but are also commonly pickled. The fresh peppers are used to make a variety of tasty favorites like salsa. They are often roasted and then referred to as a chipotle. They are very common in Mexican dishes and are used for dishes such as chili.
