History of the Cayenne Pepper: The Cayenne pepper originated in French Guiana. Its popularity grew in Portugal and from there it was transported to India and China where it grew very popular across those regions too. Its name derived from the city of Cayenne located in French Guiana.
Cayenne is used in a variety of spicy dishes, usually in powder form; but it can be used whole as well. It is sometimes used as a herbal supplement due to its health benefits.
